FIRST THING'S FIRST...
Hey there! I’m Rachel Gray (@withinpoweredhealing from Instagram!), and I’m so happy you’re open to learning more about hydrogen water and why it matters. Before I get into it and all the research, I want to share my story and give you an idea of WHY I’m so passionate about this...
I want to preface this is my own personal testimony, and I am not making any health claims. I do not claim this water cures or heals, I believe our body is powerful and created to heal itself when we provide the right environment.
When I was first introduced to the water in April of 2023, I thought it was a scam. How was there any possible way water could be this powerful? There's no way water could be more than, well, water…
My healing journey started in February of 2023, I was a postpartum, stay-at-home mama, feeling lost, alone, isolated, and depressed. I was at my all-time low and was just about to turn to medications to manage my symptoms, that’s when I had my spiritual awakening– at the most divine and perfect time. It took a very special person and place to show me that I wasn’t buried, I was being planted, and everything else fell into perfect alignment. I was also suffering from chronic foot pain, so I went to the Podiatrist and she told me that since I’m flat footed pain is inevitable. She recommended that I take ibuprofen to manage the pain and avoid being barefoot. This “treatment plan” didn’t sit well for me as I’m someone that loves walking barefoot (especially outside), and avoids taking pain pills.
I invested in my own machine in April of 2023, two months after initially being introduced. I was skeptical at first, but after researching I knew, THIS water would be good for my family. I kept hearing my “Mom Gut” say, “This will be good for your family, this will be good for you family.” And I listened. A week after drinking the water, my body started to return to a state of optimal function through the power of true, cellular hydration, and I noticed my foot pain starting to dissipate! This is when I knew I needed to share this with the world.
Well, it's been almost two years of me drinking this water, and I've never felt better. I was able to continue my inner healing journey, I became a doula, spiritual life coach, and I feel so young, vibrant and healthy. I am able to play with my kids, and run after them with no foot pain.
So here it is: everything I’ve learned and personally experienced about Hydrogen Water or Electrolyzed Reduced Water:

WHAT IS MOLECULAR HYDROGEN?
Hydrogen (H2) is the most powerful and bioavailable antioxidant known to man. It has been proven to have many therapeutic benefits including: fight free radicals, reduce inflammation, prevent oxidative stress, increase cognitive function, and improve overall well-being.
Most of the tap, filtered, and bottled water we are drinking today is acidic, processed, full of micro plastics, and “dead”. Which means, not only are we not properly hydrated, it also means the water we’re drinking is actually aging us...
THE PROBLEM WITH OUR DRINKING WATER
WHAT IS "DEAD" WATER?
Oxidation is the process of removing an electron from an atom. At the cellular level, when a cell becomes “oxidized”, it dies. When the cell dies, it begins to search for another electron found in other cells. It steals electrons from other cells and causes free radicals, which then leads to oxidative stress, inflammation, aging, and can lead to serious disease and illness. In water, oxidation happens when we use chemicals and put it through processes. It's great to kill the bacteria and remove any harmful chemicals in the water. However, now the water is dead.

Oxidation is another word for aging. In other words, any liquids that are oxidizing are also aging. Bottled water, filtered water, tap water, and even bottled spring water is typically oxidized, even if it says “alkaline”. This process is similar to what happens when you cut an apple. half; it starts to brown. When you take water from its original source (the natural spring), it starts to oxidize or “brown”. Dead, oxidized water also has a low potential hydrogen (more on this below).

Most people are at least drinking half their weight in ounces a day, so drinking water that is clean and not aging you is important. Not only that, we are bombarded with toxins, free radicals, and chemicals every single day. From the food we eat, the water we drink, to the air we breathe. Even our thoughts play a role in our cellular health! The foundation of our bodies IS water, and we are what we drink. This is why water quality matters.
WHY HIGH ANTIOXIDANT WATER IS IMPORTANT
WHAT SHOULD WE DRINK THEN???
In a perfect world, having access to a natural spring where you can collect your own water is ideal. Most people don't and if they do, the water is typically contaminated and requires a purification process. So what about bottled spring water? This would be nice, however, it still has to be collected, transported in a hot vehicle, stored in plastic, and then processed. By the time we are able to consume it, the water has become oxidized and is now full of free radicals.

Hydrogen is the strongest antioxidant known to man and offers many therapeutic benefits. When water is dead, it has a low potential hydrogen (pH). When water is living, it has a high potential hydrogen. It is also easier for the body to absorb. Many health professionals and naturopaths are huge advocates for hydrogen water, such as Andrew Huberman, Gary Brecka, and Dr. Stephen Cabral.

As you saw in the video above, ORP stands for Oxidation Reduction Potential. This is used to measure whether or not a liquid is aging (oxidizing) or anti-aging (anti-oxidizing). For example, as you saw, most water, soda, and sports drinks on the market are oxidizing and have a positive ORP. This is usually because of added chemicals and processes the liquids are put through.

To have a negative ORP, you would need to have more ANTI-oxidants present in the liquid to get a higher potential hydrogen.
ALKALINE WATER VS. MOLECULAR HYDROGEN WATER
Now that we know what ORP means and why having hydrogen present in water matters, let’s talk about alkaline water. Alkaline water is such a buzz word nowadays and can create a lot of confusion. Many bottled water companies have their own version of alkaline water and market it as such. Here's the kicker: alkaline water can be alkaline without having much dissolved molecular hydrogen. It is easy to make a liquid alkaline by using chemicals like potassium, calcium, baking soda, and sodium (look at the ingredients next time you see bottled alkaline water!). The added minerals may improve absorption, however, it does not boost the amount of antioxidants present or have the same therapeutic benefits as molecular hydrogen.

HOW DO I PURCHASE?

CAN I PUT THIS IN MY HOME?
YES! It is highly recommended to get the most out of your machine! The machine does over 65 different things, from laundry detergent to hypochlorous acid to mouth wash, medical grade sanitizer, and removing pesticides from produce. These can also be used in businesses to provide the best water for employees, clients, and food service industry!

IS IT EASY TO INSTALL?
Yes, it attaches to virtually any sink.

DOES IT HAVE A FILTER?
Yes, the machine comes with a filter inside and the ionization process removes contaminants and chemicals as well. If this is of concern, there are prefilters available and I am happy to share options!

IS THERE ANY MAINTENANCE?
Yes, machine maintenance is very user-friendly. I recommend replacing the filter every 6-9 months and manually cleaning the machine once a month. The machine has a touch screen and lets you know when and how to do both! You can also get your machine deep cleaned once a year. In total, maintenance for the machine is about $200/year.

HOW DOES THIS COMPARE TO A BERKEY FILTER?
Berkey is a filter, this is an ionizer. Water from the Berkey will have no therapeutic benefits from the hydrogen, and will also still be acidic and "dead".

WHAT ABOUT REVERSE OSMOSIS?
RO is a filter and does a good job at that. However, it is important to note reverse osmosis as well as distilled water have NO MINERALS in the water. Without minerals, the water is empty and will start to pull minerals from your body over a longer period of time. The water is also still acidic and "dead".

IS THIS THE SAME AS THE HYDROGEN BOTTLE OR TABLETS?
No. There are many differences between these, the main one being the amount of dissolved molecular hydrogen. While the bottles and tablets produce hydrogen, they do not produce a therapeutic amount of dissolved molecular hydrogen. This is where the therapeutic benefits come from.

CAN I HEAT OR FREEZE THE WATER?
Yes, although the machine doesn't like hot water running through it! So using a tea kettle or water heater is best.

CAN I GIVE THIS WATER TO MY PETS?
Yes! I give my cats the 8.5.
